چکیده
PA~CU~ONrOM B~OMIDE (Organon NA97) is a steroid compound non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent, 1 synthesized by Hewett and Savage in 1964. Following extensive pharmacological studies in animals, Buckett and Bonta 2 suggested that this agent possessed properties similar to those of d-tubocurarine but with certain differences in side effects. Its potency is claimed to be about five times that of d-tubocurarine, weight for weight? '3 The aim of the present study was to investigate the properties of pancuronium bromide on Nigerian adults and to compare its effects with those of d-tuboeurarine under standardized conditions. Attempts were also made to investigate the effects of halothane when employed in conjunction with either of the two muscle relaxants.

The change in calf muscle blood flow in the ischaemic limb during anaesthesia with pancuronium bromide.
Calf muscle blood flow was measured in eight patients with confirmed ischaemic disease of their lower limbs, before and during general anaesthesia which included pancuronium bromide and intermittent positive pressure ventilation. Anaesthesia was associated with a decrease in limb blood flow. Comparison of these results with those of a similar study in which tubocurarine was employed in a place ...
متن کاملThe effect of colymycin M, gentamycin and kanamycin on depression of neuromuscular transmission induced by pancuronium bromide.
THE INTERACTION Of antibiotics and neuromuscular blocking agents has been well documented. Neomycin, a.-~ streptomycin, 3 kanamycin, 3 gentamicin, 4'~ bacitraein, G polymyxin B ~ and colymicin ~ have been shown to potentiate the neuromuscular blockade of d-tubocurarine. The combined action of the muscle relaxant and the antibiotic is often resistant to reversal by both calcium '2,~3,~4 and neos...

The introduction of new anaesthetic drugs demands that their action should be compared with that of already established agents. Pancuronium bromide was introduced into clinical anaesthetic practice by Baird and Reid (I967), and has since achieved widespread acceptance because it is reputed to have fewer cardiovascular side-effects than other non-depolarizing relaxants (Baird, I968; Sellick, 197...

متن کاملThe kinetics of competitive antagonism by cisatracurium of embryonic and adult nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.
Competitive antagonists to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors are clinically used as muscle relaxants. Previously, we reported the kinetics of inhibition (in the absence of acetylcholine) by (+)-tubocurarine and pancuronium on embryonic receptors. Here, we examine cisatracurium, a commonly used muscle relaxant. Outside-out patches were equilibrated with cisatracurium before application of 300 mi...
